Acceptable Use Policy
Acceptable Use Policy
1. Introduction
This Acceptable Use Policy is part of vLake’s Terms and Conditions and applies to all WordPress hosting, email hosting, domain registration, and related services. By using our services, you agree to comply with these rules and all applicable laws and regulations. vLake may suspend or terminate any account for violations.
2. Email Use
vLake’s email hosting is strictly for transactional messages—such as account notifications, billing invoices, password resets, and service alerts. Sending marketing, promotional, bulk, or any unsolicited emails is prohibited. You must have explicit, verifiable consent for every recipient, and you must keep records of that consent. Accounts used for prohibited email activity may be suspended immediately and incur additional fees for remediation.
3. Content Restrictions
You may not host or link to material that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, harmful to minors, pornographic, hateful, or that promotes violence, discrimination, fraud, or other illegal activities. If vLake deems content to violate this policy or applicable law, we may require you to remove or modify it or may suspend your service without notice.
4. Hosting and Account Use
Your vLake hosting account is dedicated to your own WordPress site. You may not resell, share, or allow third parties to use your account or features. Running unauthorized background processes, unattended daemons, peer-to-peer applications, or cryptocurrency mining on our servers is forbidden.
5. Resource Usage
Our shared hosting environment relies on fair-use of CPU, memory, disk I/O, and bandwidth. You may not run intensive scripts or database queries that degrade server performance, schedule cron jobs more frequently than once every two hours, or otherwise consume disproportionate resources. vLake reserves the right to throttle, suspend, or require plan upgrades for accounts that breach fair-use.
6. Traffic Usage
While vLake doesn’t impose rigid bandwidth caps, traffic must be consistent with standard website use. Activities like large-scale file distribution, video streaming, or mirror services may be throttled or require a higher-tier plan to preserve service quality for all users.
7. Disk Usage
Hosting storage is allocated exclusively for your WordPress site and its related assets (themes, plugins, uploads). Storing non-site files—such as backups, archives, media libraries unrelated to your site, or general file storage—is prohibited. vLake monitors both total disk usage and file count; accounts exceeding reasonable limits may be asked to remove excess files, upgrade to a larger plan, or face suspension.
8. DNS Services
vLake includes DNS management tools that let you create, modify, and delete DNS records for domains registered through us. You must use these tools responsibly: configuring DNS to facilitate attacks (e.g., DNS amplification), mask fraudulent activity, or redirect traffic without authorization is strictly forbidden. Misuse of DNS services may result in immediate suspension or termination
9. Security and Network Abuse
You must keep your WordPress installation, plugins, themes, and email credentials secure. Any activity that threatens network integrity—such as unauthorized access attempts, port scanning, DDoS attacks, malware distribution, phishing, or spam—will result in immediate suspension and may be reported to law enforcement.
10. Enforcement and Reporting
vLake may update this policy at any time to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or service offerings. We encourage you to review it periodically. To report suspected abuse or violations, please email info@vlake.co.za. vLake may cooperate with law enforcement or regulatory agencies and share customer data when required by law or to protect the security of our network. Continued use of vLake services constitutes acceptance of this policy.
